By Pete On July 24, 2012 · Leave a Comment

In case you missed it, the carbon tax was introduced on July 1st, and clearly the green job market is already seeing the benefit. Green job ads have increased by 14% just since June, a significant jump considering the recent 3-month slump. After the record leap in February, growth slowed and then declined, but as [...]

By Pete On June 15, 2012 · Leave a Comment

GreenJob advertising has had a moderate decline in ad numbers for the month of June – approximately 1% less than registered in May.  This is consistent with the overall decline in employment advertising economy wide which also suffered a 1% decline.

Given the relatively small changes it is difficult to draw any major conclusions, however [...]

Green jobs leap, bucking the trend

By Georgina On February 16, 2012 · Leave a Comment

As anticipated, the February 2012 Green Job Index shows a substantial improvement in the number of green jobs being advertised – just short of the high seen last July.  Green jobs are up 56% on last month’s figures, from 1640 jobs mid-January to 2574 mid-February 2012. Of course, this month’s improved figures reflect seasonal employment [...]

Demand for rare skills keeping green job ads up

By Georgina On December 15, 2011 · Leave a Comment

At this traditionally quiet time of the year in Australian recruiting it’s not unusual to see a drop in jobs advertising overall.  In the green jobs sector, however, we are seeing hiring for green jobs picking up again  in relation to the market as a whole.

Despite global economic uncertainty, here in Australia improved political [...]

Green job growth paused due to global uncertainty

By Georgina On November 16, 2011 · 1 Comment

As the rest of the world waits for the European sovereign debt crisis to play itself out, the Australian job market holds its breath. There are clear signs of caution across all job sectors, and the green job market is no exception. Despite expanding Gross Domestic Product figures of 1.2% in the [...]
