Environment Manager

Our client is an international mining group who are seeking an Environmental Manager who has the experience to lead and improve environmental management of a number of mineral exploration and mining operations in PNG. The FIFO roster can be based out of any Australian capital city.
This is a challenging management position. Experience with FIFO and international operations experience(preferably PNG) are essential. The role will lead a small team backed up by contract resources for major projects. It is a role that requires solid technical understanding of relevant environmental legislation (in conjunction with the regulatory manager) to ensure ongoing legal compliance of the group's diverse mining operations.
The Ideal candidate will have over 5 years experience in a site based mining operation as well as previous supervisory experience. You will be diplomatic and have a strong empathy for indigenous communities and stakeholder groups. You will also understand te dynamic of working in a multinational group and know how to influence internal business units and external contractors.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* Managing the environmental approvals process for current mining operations and exploration activities
* Implementing and Reviewing Environmental Management Plans
* Promoting mine rehabilitation and sound environmental working practices
* Coaching and developing environmental awareness amongst site based professionals, contractors and management team
* Managing and supporting site Environment team in day to day functions
* Providing high level technical support including monitoring, analysis and reporting programs
* Managing specific environmental project work such as rehabilitation and site contractors
* Ensuring best practice compliance with statutory regulations and liaising regularly with regulatory agencies
