Senior Project Engineer Solar Power Plant Installations

Our client is one of the largest PV companies in the world, planning and constructing large scale solar power plants in many countries around the world. To launch their Australian operations, they are now looking to appoint a senior engineer to guide their efforts from a technical point of view. This role will hold responsibility for developing project schedules, negotiate contracts with suppliers and land owners as well as scouting for new potential locations.
Responsibilities:
• Develop civil site selection specifications and manage site selection process
• Develop and review project schedules, cost estimation, bill of materials, budgets, scopes of work, standards and quotes from suppliers·
• Develop work breakdown structures as well as negotiate contracts with suppliers
• Handling all processes involving land and building authorities
• Supervise project implementation to assure cost, time, quality and execution guidelines according to schedule
• Observe national laws, regulations and codes as well as customer requirements, balance of systems, permitting and technical support during construction phase
• Manage and coordinate external resources such as structural, civil and electrical engineering consultants, geotechnical and topographic surveyors, other specialised professionals as needed and suppliers in collaboration with solar engineer
• Create, deliver and maintain drawing packages and project documentation
• Assist with technical training for other team members and new employees
• Working together in an international team of specialists and actively participate in developing project standards.
• Direct reporting to the Managing Director of Australian operations

Qualifications:
• Degree in civil engineering or a related engineering subject
• Ideally has independently overseen multi-million dollar projects
• Extensive work experience in management and completion of large scale projects in a responsible position (in particular power projects)
• Competent / experienced in contract negotiations
• Assertive, able to cope with a dynamic surroundings, a team player, prepared to travel
• Experience in working with government agencies and related permitting processes with local authorities and good knowledge of National Codes.
• Minimum of 5 years experience required in this type of role
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft office tools
• Good verbal communications, presentation and organization skills
